I will teach the multiples of 5! We will sing 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60! Then, we will draw arrays to discuss that multiplication means counting groups of numbers! We will discuss drawing arrays as a strategy for solving multiplication! We will also discuss that skip counting by 5 is another strategy to use when solving a multiplication problem! We will build math fluency by multiplying by 5 together! Students will create flash cards or notes that list the multiplication facts regarding multiplying by 5! The largest math fact that we will discuss is 5 x 12! Students will end class by using their flash cards to study with me! This is a great class for students who are learning what multiplication is, as they are likely already familiar with multiplying by five!
