**THERE ARE NO LIVE MEETINGS IN THIS COURSE** Students will be expected to submit a weekly class assignment, and can expect teacher feedback through the classroom within 48 hours of assignment submission. Assignments are centered around the weekly topics, with two separate chances to submit a 5 paragraph essay for review by the teacher, with edits. Week 1Lesson 1Finding Scholarships- How to find scholarships that fit students' personal interests on scholarship search engines and at their local high schools - Making a plan for applying for scholarships and colleges - Local organizations that offer scholarships *Assignment #1: Find 3-5 Scholarships from your local region that you qualify/will qualify for*Week 2Lesson 2Letters of Recommendation- Who is a good person to ask for a recommendation - How to ask for a recommendation, and when! *Assignment #2: Create a mock e-mail asking a trusted adult for a letter of recommendation*Week 3Lesson 3Essay Writing- Common essay topics - How to start writing an essay *Assignment #3: Write a 1st Draft of a 5 Paragraph Essay on one of the common topics listed OR a previously teacher-approved topic that is part of your scholarship application*Week 4Lesson 4How to Fill Out an Application- Following Instructions - On-line vs. Hard Copies - Due date definitions *Assignment #4: Print out a college application and fill it out by hand! PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT ANY PERSONAL DETAILS (last name, address, phone number, social security number, etc.) *Week 5Lesson 5College-Specific Scholarships- How to search for college-specific scholarships - Making sure you meet initial requirements *Assignment #5: Make a year-long plan for classes/internships/summer jobs/volunteer opportunities you would like to accomplish to make your college and scholarship applications more appealing*Week 6Lesson 6PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep- How to find and take Prep exams - How to study for these exams *Assignment #6: Take a mock PSAT exam*Week 7Lesson 7How to Prepare for an Interview- Make a list of common interview questions - Mock Interview with a friend or family member - Dress the part *Assignment #7: Film a mock interview*Week 8Lesson 8ReviewReview - NO VIDEO provided this week During this last week of class, students should prepare any questions that they have for the teacher. I will respond to each student with a video individually to answer any remaining questions they might have. We will talk about the concepts from the previous weeks, and I will post a link to a game of jeopardy to help cement the concepts we covered during this course. *Assignment #8: Turn-in final draft of 5 Paragraph Essay*

Students will learn how to find scholarships that fit their interests and lifestyles, and how to successfully apply for these scholarships! Students will also learn about test-taking skills, college application skills, and how to conduct a successful interview.

This is a high-school level course, so there will be weekly writing and/or video assignments each week. Students should expect to take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours each week on homework outside of class. *NOTE* - Students will be required to use internet search engines outside of class for their homework at their own discretion. Additionally, one of the weekly assignments is asking a trusted adult for a letter of recommendation. I provide letter grades upon parent request. I will also provide written assessments of all assignments that are turned-in by their due dates, to help students continue to improve in their writing, test-taking skills, and over-all skills for becoming a better scholarship and college applicant.成績が提供されます
