Test out this class and see if it's a good fit for your learner! Use the coupon code ENEFFHOME10 for $4 off your first class! This makes your first class $1!

Let's get organized! In this homeroom class, students set aside a designated time each week to organize their schedule and school work, prioritize tasks, and learn new study skills! This is a great course for students who want to do their best in school, but who struggle with organization and procrastination.

Each class will begin with a quick "hello!" and then it's off to organizing! We will start with organizing loose papers in backpacks and binders (it happens to the best of us!).

After, students will get scheduling! First, students will double check that all of last week's assignments were finished before adding any missed assignments to the current week's schedule. Next, students will add current assignments and important activities to their planners! When all that is said and done, we'll prioritize!

I will assist students in picking their three most important tasks of the week! Prioritizing helps students see the big picture and focus on what's most important. Learning to prioritize is not only an important academic skill but an important life skill that students can carry with them outside this virtual classroom.

Second to last is question time! Students are encouraged to ask questions or share tips regarding study habits, study tips, school scheduling, overcoming procrastination, finding motivation to do homework or any other school related question! If no student has a question or tip to share, I will share a study or school tip with students that is sure to help guide them towards success!

Lastly, students will write down and share their weekly goal! Goal setting helps students stayed intrinsically motivated and sharing their goal obligates them to complete it! Setting a tangible goal helps pave the way for student success even if the goal is not academically focused.

The topics in this class are typically learner directed. If students do not have questions pertaining to school and study habits, I will guide students through the below topics instead.

1) Using the Pomodoro method for studying
2) Utilizing Quizlet.com to its full potential
3) How to remember to turn things in
4) How to organize your schedule when you have make-up work to do
5) How to write an email to your teacher
6) How to ask your teacher for help
7) What to do when everything feels so overwhelming you don't know where to start
8) Overcoming procrastination
9) Effective independent studying for tests
10) Effective group studying for tests
11) Finding a balance between school, work, sports, and social obligations
12) What to do when you're lost in class
13) Utilizing Khan Academy to its full potential
14) Todoist- an organizational to-do list app

Hello! My name is Miss Neff or Miss Natalie and I love to teach art and biology classes!

ART: I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Art (ha!) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I taught art for K-8 students at a public charter school for two years where I taught almost 400 different students a week! It’s safe to say I’ve worked with a lot of different art supplies, ages, and students!

BIOLOGY: I have a Bachelor's of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I have done lots of wild and crazy things with my biology degree! It all started with me mapping out trees in a forest outside of the UCSC campus, which evolved into me catching wild mice for my own undergraduate research, which then lead to me going to Mexico and Costa Rica across six months for bat research (don’t worry- I’m not rabid!), which turned into me teaching a class on Natural History at UCSC while continuing rodent research, which THEN lead to me working as an ecologist in central CA (whew!).

Although I’ve tried many different jobs, my heart is in teaching! In fact, I love teaching so much that I went out and got a Master’s in Eduction in Secondary Education at GCU so I could learn to be an even better teacher!

In addition to art, biology, and teaching, I also love to play guitar, sing in my band, eat plant based, boulder, camp, hike, and take my two dogs, Toasted Marshmallow Fluff and Beignet, just about everywhere I can!

Here are a few of my class policies:

1) My classes are a safe space for everyone! I am a proud LGBT+ ally.

2) I like to begin teaching my classes right away, so please show up on time!

3) If two or more students are enrolled I will teach the class.

4) Please let me know if there is a class you’re interested in taking but there is not a time available. I’m more likely than not happy to open a second section if there’s growing interest!

Thanks for stopping by! You can follow me on Instagram at @missneff92 for class updates and more!
