In this one time course, students will explore the history of Halloween, learning its ancients origins and its progression to become one of the biggest sugar-filled holidays around the world. How did Halloween become a child's favorite night filled with costumes, and candy, and fun! Travel back in time with us as we explore the beginnings of Halloween through the cultures and civilizations that created and changed it. We will first explore the Celts,...
Students will improve their understanding of ancient cultures, Halloween, and the modern transformation of the holiday. Students will also work on group/peer collaboration and interactive communication.
I have been challenging and elevating students for over 10 years to delve deeply into the issues of our past and wrestle with the realities of our present and future. Each conversation will be open and honest but guided with the necessary care for students of this age. I believe it is our job as educators to not teach children what to think- but how to think and allow them to unearth the truths that are often hidden within the words of pages.
Handout will be provided before class starts by the teacher.
