Spanish I is a broad based course designed to introduce the student to all aspects of foreign language study. Grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills are included. Cultural information is provided and taught throughout the duration of the course. Students will do research on various cultural topics. I love languages, but Spanish especially. I visited Costa Rica for a mission trip, and while down there, I met my now-husband. He didn't speak English, and I didn't speak Spanish. What was there to do but learn the language? I ended up living in Costa Rica for three years, and after mastering Spanish, I moved on to learn Italian. I am now working on French and Mandarin. Learning so many languages has helped me formulate productive ways of teaching Spanish. The most important thing is to have fun. Just because it's a high school course doesn't mean that we can't have fun.
I currently teach high school Spanish to homeschoolers in my area (we do a once a week 2 hour class), and I run Solorzano Spanish Academy which serves Wake County, North Carolina.
