Looking for a Geometry class where your learner will be an active participant in their own learning? Well, look no further! This will be a highly interactive class, where learners participate throughout the entire class, in the way that they personally feel comfortable doing so. At Mind over Math, we believe that every learner should be given the opportunity to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them and promote learning and understanding, for their own individual learning style. Our classes are set up in such a way that does exactly that. We will be using the following learning tools during class: - Nearpod: an interactive learning tool that provides the teacher with real-time insights into student understanding through interactive lessons and activities - Blooket: an exciting new take on the modern classroom review game. It aims to match action with education to create the ultimate learning experience! The class is taught with the following structure: The teacher explains the concepts and discusses them with learners, presents an example, then after each example the teacher presents, the learners get a turn to try their own example on Nearpod. Once the teacher sees that learners have completed the example on Nearpod, they come back together as a group to take up the problem. They continue to go back and forth in this way for the duration of class, so that learners are always given the opportunity to try every concept learned on their own. Learners can participate by asking and answering questions out loud, through the chat, or by simply participating individually on Nearpod – however they feel comfortable and learn best. Blooket games will also be incorporated throughout the classes to consolidate learning, while having fun! Learners in this class will need to have completed a full year of 8th grade math/Pre-Algebra as a prerequisite to this course. Algebra 1 is also recommended. Below are the units we will be covering in this class: Unit 1 Basics Of Geometry Unit 2 Reasoning And Proofs Unit 3 Parallel And Perpendicular Lines Unit 4 Transformations Unit 5 Congruent Triangles Unit 6 Relationships Within Triangles Unit 7 Quadrilaterals And Other Polygons Unit 8 Similarity Unit 9 Right Triangles And Similarity Unit 10 Circles Unit 11 Circumference, Area And Volume Here is a weekly breakdown of the topics covered in class each week: FULL YEAR 2024/2025 SECTIONS: Week of...
