Students will learn the required skills determined by national and state standards for English 1, Semester 2. 

I have a degree in English as well as many years of experience teaching high school English.  I have extensive specialized training in Curriculum and Instruction. I have written the English curriculum for three public high schools and one private school. My students consistently perform above the 90th percentile on state and national standardized tests.

This class will meet live 2 times per week. There will be two hours of required homework outside of class each week. This may include online quizzes and tests, workbook activities, projects, and pre-recorded classes. Some students may also need to dedicate extra study time for challenging material, tests, and projects.

Formal and informal assessments will be given. Formal assessments will be administered on Google Documents. Parents will receive 2 progress report and one final report card. Students will be assessed via quizzes, tests, and essays on Google Forms. There will be some video submissions requested for projects and introductions. We will use FlipGrid for video submissions.

Poems will be provided digitally in class. It is recommended that students purchase a copy of The Odyssey so that they can take notes and follow along; however, students can also access this book digitally for free:
