This 6 Weeks Biology Semester Course has a total of 12 Meetings and will provide students with foundation concepts that are related to Cell Biology, Genetics and Natural Selection as per State Standards. I will teach all the important vocabulary using Whiteboard, Diagrams, Quiz Let etc. I will also use the 5E Model to present a lesson using Near pod or Pear Deck. Students will get opportunity for critical thinking and problem solving. This class is rigorous and students are expected to review materials and vocabulary outside class. I will also provide additional resources which will help them to practice the lesson. There will be no lab work included in this class. The rest of the Topics will be covered in the Second Semester of this class. This course will help students to prepare for the Biology End of Course

All Sessions will be interactive. Students will be allowed to also raise hand and ask questions for better clarity. I am a Certified Science Teacher for Texas, Virginia and South Carolina, and currently work as a Public School in Texas. This class will help students strengthen their conceptual knowledge in Biology and prepare them for their EOC and also for pursuing their interests in taking Undergraduate .Biology Courses.
The Schedule for the Meetings is provided below. I have also provided some guiding questions below for each topic. Please go through these questions to ensure that this Course is the right one for you to enroll.

Meeting 1 : Introduction to Biomolecules
                   a) Identify and compare functions of Biomolecules including carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids.
Meeting 2: Biomolecules, Nutrition and Enzymes
                   a) What are Enzymes, what are their roles and how their function.
Meeting 3; Cell cycle and Cell growth
                   a) Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cell
                   b) What are the different types of cellular transport.
                   c) Compare and contrast active and passive transport.
Meeting 4; Mitosis and Cancer
                   a) Describe the stages of cell cycle including DNA replication and Mitosis.
                   b) Importance of Cell cycle to the growth of the organisms.
                   c) Recognize that disruption of cell cycle leads to diseases such as cancer.
Meeting 5: What is Meiosis
                   a) What are some differences between Mitosis and Meiosis.
                   b) Describe what happens during each phase of Meiosis.
Meeting 6: Components of DNA
                  a) Identify the components of DNA and describe how traits are carried in DNA.
Meeting 7: Meiosis and Genetic variation
                  a) Recognize that different organisms have different number of chromosomes
                  b) Understand that Meiosis impacts genetic variation..
Meeting 8: Transcription and Translation
                  a) How is RNA transcribed from DNA and translated into amino acids to make proteins.
                  b) What is the purpose of translation.
Meeting 9: Introduction to Genetics
                  a) How is Gene expression regulated.
                  b) What factors impact gene expression.
Meeting 10: Mutations - Changes in DNA
                    a) Types of Mutation
                    b) Why do mutation result in variation making natural selection and evolution possible.
Meeting 11: Natural Selection and changes in population
                   a) How does Natural Selection produce changes in population.
                   b) Why are differential reproductive processes vital to the survival of the population
Meeting 12: Biodiversity and Classification
                   a) How do the process and results of Natural Selection affect diversity, adaptation, behavior and extinction of organisms.
