Welcome to Here's Katakana part 5. This is the last class in a 5 part series. Wait! I have learned all the Katamana already. Why is there a fifth class, you might be asking yourself. Well, I will be going over some hidden rules that other Katakana classes won't be going over, so this is a class you will not want to miss if you want to complete your learning journey. You also might be wondering...wait won't the writing rules be the same as the Hiragana rules and some of them are, but there are other rules that do not apply to Hiragana that apply to Katakana. In this lesson we will review what we have learned in parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as go over the rules about writing and reading Japanese Katakana. In this lesson, we will. 1. Review all Katakana Characters 2. Write your names in Katakana 3. Learn the Katakana hidden rules A. Learn about pronouncing and reading long vowels (different from Hiragana letters) B. Learn about pronouncing and reading double consonants C. Learn about traditional sounds D. Learn about particles E. Learn about the small や, ゆ, よ F. Small vowels to change the word G. How to pronounce vowel + R sound H. What happens with a TH and V sound in foreign languages, when it is not in Japanese This seems like a lot to cover in one lesson, but don't worry, we will definitely get it done. You will enjoy this class. We will play games (Name the anime, name the celebrity, Kahoot and much more), as well as see PowerPoint slides and read street signs that are in Japan. I want you to have an amazing time and enjoy what you are learning. There is some experience needed for this class. You must take Here's Katakana part 1, 2, 3, and 4, or be able to read all the Katakana characters. For those who know the characters, this would be a good review class before moving on. Please bring an open mind and be ready to learn. I also offer a Hiragana class, if you would like to take that before you take the Katakana class you can or if you want to take the Katakana class first and then take Hiragana class that is also a possibility. If you want to learn Japanese the fastest possible way, you can always take them both at the same time. The choice is up to you. Photo Creds to "Learn Hiragana" by Danny Choo
