In this class, we examine what a fable is including the history, elements, format, and moral. Examples of fables will be given, discussed, and analyzed to see how that fable fits the format. The student will then have the opportunity to write either their own fable or a "twist" which is either a new beginning, middle, or ending to one of the fables we talked about. If they do not finish, they may send their fable via the classroom, and I will give feedback and suggestions. My style is relaxed and interactive. Prior knowledge: The student should be able to write a paragraph and have spelling skills appropriate to their age level. A summary attachment will be given after class so that students retain this knowledge. I want students to see that writing can be fun! My class rules are: Be kind and respectful to each other, please mute when you are not speaking, and raise your hand if you have a comment or question. As per the Outschool Rules, the camera must be turned on at the beginning of class so I may verify the learner. This class is best suited if your student is willing to be interactive in order to brainstorm ideas. Please bring a pencil and paper to class.
