このクラスで学べること
In this one time class, learners will come to create a DIY Halloween art craft, learn a bit of history behind Halloween, and spend the rest of the class using social skills and enjoying each other's company by socializing. The first 20 minutes or so of class will talk about the culture and history behind Halloween and where the idea of the holiday originated. Then, we will do a craft project that your learner can follow along with. We are going to make "floating ghosts" and will need: • Package of Cheesecloth • Liquid Starch • Scissors • Medium Bowl • Wax/Freezer Paper - (to cover your work surface) • Thing(s) to hold your ghost upright while it dries ⇨ Styrofoam balls (to make a rounded head) ⇨ Bottles/cups (for height) • (optional - to add eyes) black felt, construction paper, or googly eyes **Depending on your learner's skill set and fine motor skills, parents/guardians may need to help with the craft.** ***Supervision necessary for very young learners!!! Do NOT eat the liquid starch.*** The craft is not a requirement - if your learner does not wish to make this craft, coloring pages will also be available for download in the classroom page upon enrollment. After the craft, we will utilize Zoom's breakout rooms to split into smaller groups of 2-4 learners (depending on the size of the class) for the remaining hour for learners to socialize, talk, play, and share their Halloween experience together. This will be a very informal gathering to resemble more of a "party". Only the learners enrolled will be admitted into the meeting, but siblings are free to join, be on camera, participate, etc. as long as they share the device!
