In this group intervention class, students will begin at the basics of 2nd grade math, review concepts from previous years, and have the time to truly master the material. This class will consist of 30 class days, covering 30 lessons. Each day will look similar. We will begin with a welcome and question of the day. Then we will move into morning meeting. This consists of talking about the date, calendar, weather, and graphing to help them master those concepts. Then there will be the lesson...
Students will understand math concepts and master them in incremental steps. Using hands-on methods in an active classroom, students will begin to feel confident in their mathematical abilities.
I have been in education for the last few years. I am licensed in the State of Utah and I am completing my Masters of Elementary Education in May 2023.

Students will need Math Meeting pages printed. I recommend printing them once, putting them in a zip lock bag and using a dry erase maker, you could also laminate or just use pencil, but these same pages are needed each morning. Students will also need worksheet pages printed. One will be used during class, the other will be done on their own. If you have a way for your child to complete these electronically, that is an option. Students will also need math manipulatives. I will provide printout copies of the manipulatives, however, if you would like to purchase them you can find them here: https://www.rainbowresource.com/product/MP20P0/Manipulative-Kit-2-Plastic-Pattern-Block-Upgrade,-NO-Optional-Items.html? These link does have a few more manipulatives than this course needs, but in the next segments of this course, the rest of the manipulatives are needed.
I use Saxon Math with the permission of the company. Students will be provided everything they need. Printing will be required.
