In this Gluten Free Dinners Flex class, we will be making different meals, over a 6 week time span. We will be using a variety of cooking techniques and have cuisines from all different cultures! We will be making Shrimp Fried Rice, Seared Pork Chops with Mushroom Sauce and Sautéed Asparagus, Beef Stroganoff over Mashed Potatoes, Mexican Pizzas with Homemade Guacamole, Southern Shrimp and Cheesy Grits, Egg Roll in a Bowl with Rice Noodles. Most of the recipes require basic cooking knowledge but are still simple cooking concepts that any learner should be able to accomplish. During this course we will work on knife skills, use sharp knives, use hot stoves, ovens, microwaves, etc. Your learner should be comfortable with these items or be prepared to have a trusted grown up close for comfort. Students should have basic knowledge of their cooking appliances; for example, the learner should be familiar with how to use their oven, stovetop, microwave, food processor, etc., to ensure their success in the class. In this class students will learn by doing! I will be posting videos of the recipe of the week from start to finish. There will be recipes posted in the classroom, so the student can read and familiarize themselves with the process before seeing the video. The student can approach this class by either watching the video in advance, then replay as they make the recipe on their own. Or, if they're a little more adventurous they can gather ingredients and make the recipe alongside me while watching the video. However the learner feels comfortable is fine with me. Each recipe will make enough for at least 4 servings, many times more, feel free to adjust the recipe as needed for the size of your family. I can help with the recipe adjustment, please message me for individual help. I know many students may have additional allergies in addition to Gluten, please message me with any questions! During this course we will learn primarily through doing, but I will have additional activities that are required to build rapport between the classmates and me, the teacher. Upon the completion of each week's recipe, I would like the student to post a video and/or photo of them cooking, AND a completed recipe photo/video. I will ask prompting questions for their review of the dish, what did they like? not like? Favorite part of preparing the recipe? Least favorite part? During the course of the week, I will post some photo/video scavenger hunt games for the student to participate in as well. In this class, we are all friends and it is a safe space. We will all be learning together, and sometimes we may make mistakes, any rude or bullying comments on photos or videos will not be tolerated. Let's build each other up and leave respectful comments or suggestions for improvements. The goal of this course is to have fun experimenting in the kitchen, provide the student with cooking skills, confidence and expertise in the kitchen, and delicious Gluten Free recipes! All of the videos for my flex classes have captions if needed for deaf or hard of hearing students. 教師の専門知識と資格
Hello there! My name is Mary and I'm a professionally trained chef with experience in restaurants, country clubs, catering, and institutional cooking. I love to train young chefs in the "hows" and "whys" of cooking so every meal will be delicious! I thoroughly believe in hand on instruction, for cooking there is no other way. There is a ton of math, science, and creativity involved in cooking, so I try to feature those elements as well whenever I can.
My sister is a teacher and I have learned a lot of good tips and tricks for introducing a love of literacy to young children! I enjoy reading aloud to my family and like to offer classes that involve reading and snacking!
I enjoy having inquisitive learners in my classes, you will not find a class that's all PowerPoint or an all mute class from me. I love for students to ask questions, be curious, and make comments. I love to eat, travel, read, laugh, and spend time with my kids and family. I also am passionate about arts and crafts and love to get messy once in a while with glitter!
If you have a child that's passionate about culinary arts please message me about one-on-one cooking lessons and/or sessions. I can also do private birthday parties where we can cook or bake together.
