 This is an intro level class to help students understand and explore the amazing science of genetics! We begin this study of families with --us--. Lesson 1 and 2 : Terms and People. Why do I have freckles and you do not? Why is my hair brown and his hair is blonde? Our noses, body types, skin color, finger length and more are all amazing components of our genetic tapestry.  Lesson 3: Animals. If all dogs are descended from wolves . . . how in the world did we get the Pug?! Lesson 4: Plants. Here we meet the monk, Gregor Mendel, and learn about his experiments with peas. While we often consider our human ancestry and the pedigrees of animals, did you know that plants also have families? Recap and Final project. We will review the previous lessons and students are invited to start seeds in-class (with parent permission).   We will meet live once a week. There is not required out-of-class work in this course.  Students will be provided a PDF booklet file and will follow along during the lessons. This booklet and additional resources will be posted on the class page.
