Just in time for winter, students will draw a gingerbread house with fun pop up windows. I will show students step by step how to draw a house using basic shapes. We will also look at ways to rearrange and change those shapes to make their house drawing unique to them. As we draw we will brainstorm ideas for details we can add to our houses to give them character. I will show students some tips and techniques for coloring using crayons, and finally we will add pop up windows and doors for...

I have taught elementary art for over 16 years and each of my lessons is developed thoughtfully and practiced ahead of time, keeping in mind student skill level and interests. I am passionate about helping young artists find their unique artistic voices and therefore balance guided drawing with creative expression in this lesson. I provide positive encouragement to students throughout our class time and hope they enjoy this project as much as I do.
