このクラスで学べること

In this one-time class, kids relax, learn helpful techniques that can be used at a later time as well as the benefits gained during the class, and enjoy an epic adventure where they fly with a very kind dragon. (This class is perfect for kids who are able to remain seated and focused on the class. It is not suitable to kids who tend to get up, run around, blurt out, etc., as that would be disruptive for other kids present in the class.)

* Please NO eating in this class, nor doing other activities at the same time. Any other activities taking place completely renders the benefits of this class ineffective. Learners who do not adhere to this and insist upon doing other things within this course, or are otherwise disturbing to other learners, will have their cameras turned off. Once I begin the adventure, it's disruptive to the entire process if I have to stop and instruct a learner individually. It's not fair to the other learners, their parents, or to me as it is my pride and joy to deliver amazing results through this to the kids. Thank you for your understanding and your assistance in preparing your learner for this class in advance.

In the beginning of the class, we'll greet each other, learn a beneficial breathing technique that causes a relaxation response in the body, and then delight in a wonderful guided visualization kids find very enjoyable. Parents are encouraged to do this along with their kids (if a parent is present, please follow Outschool's guidelines and remain off-camera). 

Kids of all ages ;-) tend to enjoy these as well, and when parents understand what's included, they are then able to help refocus their children during challenging moments in the future in ways that will help kids calm down more effectively than simply telling them to calm down or sending them to a time out. It's a win-win for everyone and parents typically find they enjoy the relaxing benefits as well. There are techniques presented here that can be utilized throughout life. 

At the end, kids are invited, but aren't required to, share what any of their experiences were during the visualization or ask any questions they may have. 

***** Special Notes ******

Please also be sensitive to the fact that kids are almost always in a very relaxed state by the time this class concludes. Please allow them time and space to simply bask in that relaxation. You'll benefit too by ensuring your child has this space and time. Please be sure your learner can take this class in the comfort of your home (not riding around in the car or some other random place). It can be effectively done in the home of someone they spend ample time with, such as a grandparent, so long as the people there understand these special notes and can ensure the best conditions for your child. The location chosen should be a place your child already spends a lot of time and is comfortable in. Sometimes kids even want to go to sleep for a short time afterwards. Please allow enough time and space for your child to just "chill" for awhile after this, should they want to. The benefits that can be gained here will be more significant if this is allowed for.

In addition, this is not a time to be eating a snack, a meal, or multi-tasking. This doesn't work if a person is doing something else at the same time and it's distracting for other learners present. Please be sure your child has had something to eat beforehand. If they are too hungry, or too thirsty, it will be hard for them to concentrate and relax. However, if they are stuffed full or drank too much and now have to use the restroom partway through, this does alter the effects as well. A sense of being comfortable in the belly is ideal. 

Please ensure your learner is in a quiet place for this class as intrusive noise around him or her tends to reduce the effectiveness of what can be acheived here. Please be sure your phone calls or noisy activities are away from the area your child will be doing this class as your voice on the call or the noise being made basically renders it largely ineffective. 

Please have the location your child will be doing this class in already set up for Zoom in advance of the class and arrive on time. Late arrivals, or the process of "setting up the device" while the class is in session disrupt the other learners who are already partly on their relaxing journey with this.

Please choose a location in advance of the class where your child will participate in it. Kids should be able to get nice and comfortable. I don't recommend a hard chair, though a cushy chair or sofa is great for some people. Most kids love to do these while lying down, and I tend to agree with their take on that. Comfort is key here and will assist in the relaxation responses gained. Kids ought to be comfortable enough where they can sit or lie relatively still throughout a good portion of the class.

This is an experiential process. Within it, techniques are learned and discussed briefly so that learners can begin to understand things they can do in the future to help relax, calm down, diminish fears and stresses, and function in a state of greater ease. However, parents please understand, that young kids may have to be re-directed in times of difficulty so that techniques such as these become something that in time they can remember to reach for themselves. This is another reason I'm going to be developing more and more of these guided adventures. The more something is repeated, the better ingrained it becomes. This is true of anyone, kids and adults alike, however, with kids especially they more easily can spin out in their thoughts and emotions and it is here that you can be of tremendous help to them if you also familiarize yourself with what is presented here.

I began my own adventures and explorations into guided visual processes, meditation, and mindfulness practices over 20 years ago. I've learned various techniques and delved into fascinating evolutions and experiences along the way. I enjoy helping other people with what I've gained within this arena.

Many people have a difficult time coping with high levels of stress, anxiety, and anger. While extreme stress and anxiety (which can lead to anger) were at one time something adults typically dealt with more than kids and teens, sadly, in our fast-paced and demanding world, younger and younger people are afflicted to greater and greater degrees by intense levels of the stress, anxiety, and anger levels once reserved more typically for adults in high-stress jobs. Due to this, it's especially important to me to help younger people learn techniques they can start using now in order to help them live a better quality of life right away, and while they are young, so that the rest of their lives might also be positively benefited by having had these tools to utilize from an early age. 

Tools young people can learn that will help them morph their mental focus towards ways that cultivate relaxation and ease will provide them with the ability to do this throughout their lifetime, as well as now. Studies have proven that relaxation helps promote health, mental clarity, the​ mental focus to do better within whatever it is one does in life, and also can help lead to simply living a happier life.
