Class Description During this two-week Fluency Fun Reading Camp, students will enhance their reading fluency through engaging, hands-on activities. Each day includes guided reading, fluency drills, interactive games, and comprehension exercises. By the end of the camp, students will have improved their reading speed, accuracy, and expression, along with their overall confidence in reading. This camp is perfect for 8-10 year-olds eager to become fluent readers while making new friends. Each class will start with a warm-up activity followed by focused fluency practice, core reading activities, and a cool-down session. Students will participate in guided reading, paired reading, and group discussions, using tools like Kahoot, Quizlet Live, and Nearpod to keep learning fun and interactive. No prior fluency experience is required, but students should come ready to engage and enjoy reading. Hello! I started teaching in the public school system in the early 2000s as a Reading Specialist. I have also worked as a classroom teacher, a reading resource teacher, and as an English as a Second Language teacher. These various experiences have given me 20 plus years as an educator, closing the reading gap for many students, from various educational and ethnic backgrounds. I also work as an online ESL teacher which has given me the opportunity to work with students (children and adults) from all over the globe to help them reach their reading and English language goals. I also private tutor students on zoom.
