このクラスで学べること

**Important: This course is for Minecraft Java Edition for PC or Mac only and is NOT compatible with Game Consoles, iPads or any other devices. Basic understanding of Minecraft is required for developing and testing the mod we build together. Also, this is an introductory course and is meant for beginners and leaners who are new to programming and mod development.

In this 4 week flexible schedule course, students will use BlockBench to develop a 3D model of a duck and use their custom 3D model to make a Mod for Minecraft Java Edition. This Mod will put their custom duck into the game with custom AI behaviors and sound effects.

Flexible schedule means that there are no live meetings, but students are still expected to complete assignments or projects by specific due dates and also to interact with each other in the online classroom. This course uses Minecraft Forge to test their project.

What this class will look like:

1. Each week, the students will be given a set of tasks to complete for their project. I will provide materials and videos that step through the tasks step by step. Catchup materials will also be provided for a student that is not able to complete the previous week's tasks. For example, I will provide a model file and texture files that they can import into their project to compare or catch up to their classmates.

2. Students will share screenshots of their progress each week and offer encouragement and ask each other and me questions about their projects.

3. Students will complete reflection questions and provide feedback on what their next steps are in their project.

4. Students will complete a self reflection assignment at the end to think back on what they have learned and start planning their next step in their coding/modding journey.

5. Students are expected to interact with each other in the online classroom by responding to at least 3 other students' comments.

6. Through brainstorming and collaboration exercises, students can share ideas of their own custom mods and future projects

7. Teacher will be active in the classroom to answer questions, help with creative ideas, encourage creativity so the students produce something they can be proud of!

Week 1 Objective:
Parents will help students setup their workspace on the computer by installing the modding program. Videos will be provided on how to install the program. Students will then develop their 3D model using the online resource BlockBench. By the end of the first week, they will have their Duck 3D model ready for a texture.

Week 1 Assignments:

1.) Install Minecraft Forge and Mcreator
2.) Read task list on class page and watch instructional videos
3.) Complete assignment by following teacher's example
4.) Post screenshot of your project
6.) Students will comment on two other students' work.
7.) Students will respond to two other comments

Week 2 Objective:
Learners will develop a texture for their Duck by using BlockBench. By following the instructor led video they will learn about how to put a texture on a 3D model and learn about "Color Blocking, using a reference in creating a texture, and blending colors.

Week 2 Assignments:

1.) Read task list on class page and watch instructional videos
2.) Complete assignment by following teacher's example
3.) Post screenshot of your project
4.) Students will comment on two other students' work.
5.) Students will respond to two other comments

Week 3 Objective:
Learners will use BlockBench to set pivot points and prepare the model to be animated in Mcreator. Students will learn the basics of Mcreator and how to setup their workspace. Students will begin importing their custom duck models into the software for Mod development.

Week 3 Assignments:

1.) Read task list on class page and watch instructional videos
2.) Complete assignment by following teacher's example
3.) Post screenshot of your project
4.) Students will comment on two other students' work.
5.) Students will respond to two other comments

Week 4 Objective:
Students will setup AI behaviors, animations, and custom sound effects for their model. By the end of this week, they will have a finished project!

Week 4 Assignments:

1.) Read task list on class page and watch instructional videos
2.) Complete assignment by following teacher's example
3.) Post screenshot of your project
4.) Students will comment on two other students' work.
5.) Students will respond to two other comments

***Teacher will be active in the online classroom, provide feedback, encouragement throughout the week and will offer tips, encouragement, and other feedback to each student. ***
