このクラスで学べること

This digital art Procreate camp is suitable for beginners! It's the perfect class for students interested in learning basic animation techniques or students who want to create simple animations that can be added to photos or sent through messaging apps. Each pre-recorded video lesson is accompanied by a PDF guide showing each step of the process in writing and screenshots. Please note that there are NO live instruction sessions. All lessons are conducted via pre-recorded videos at your learner's convenience. Students are welcome to schedule a live meeting time in the classroom if they need help with something specific.

There are no pre-requisites for this class, however it is necessary to have the Procreate app ($9.99 in the Apple app store) downloaded to your iPad in order to take this class. Procreate is only available on Apple devices at this time.

Each week students will learn a different technique and will have the option of completing the same project I do OR using the technique to create their own project. I love to see creativity in action! Students will upload their animations to our classroom area and provide insight on their own process, and constructive feedback on their classmates' projects.

In week one, students will become acquainted with several of the basic features of Procreate. These include things like working with the color menu, choosing and customizing a brush, working with layers, and shortcuts to make creating more efficient. They will also learn how to add text to a project, how to work with drawing guides, and how to turn a regular brush into a rainbow brush. They will use these skills to create an animation using slightly varied layers. After viewing the week's video tutorial, students should complete their project in Procreate. Once their project is done, they can upload it to our classroom area and add a comment about what they are most proud of and what their biggest challenge was. The other students and I will keep the conversation going by responding to each others' comments. Optional: Students could instead choose to create a digital portfolio using Google Slides and could record themselves talking about their animation and playing it for us.

In week two, students will learn how to animate one particular feature of their work. They will practice using the selection tool and manipulating a selection. They can also incorporate the animation technique learned in week one in this week's project.

In week three, students will learn about onion skin layers and will explore the liquify tool. They will then create an animation using the push liquify tool. As an extension, they can always incorporate the techniques used in weeks one and two to make a more complex project.

In week four, students will animate a character across their screen. They can keep it simple, or incorporate techniques from previous weeks.

In week five, students will use the eraser tool to create an animation.

Teacher/Student interaction: I look forward to seeing students' completed work each week and finding out what they are most proud of and what their biggest challenge was. Those two questions often lead to further insight about a learner's process and provide additional learning opportunities for everyone.

Student/Student interaction: Each week students will share constructive feedback on each other's projects. They can comment on something the learner did well and ask questions about the learners' processes.

Hi! I'm Mrs. Huey and I teach elementary and middle school aged kids how to draw and animate on iPads using the Procreate app. These classes are a fun, safe place to foster creativity, showcase artistic expression, and let learners be their most authentic selves.

In my classes, we gather together to explore the far reaches of our imaginations. Whether drawing an under-the-sea waterscape, animating a prehistoric sauropod, or taking creative license with a hand drawn selfie, everyone's ideas and personalities are welcomed.

I've been working as an elementary school teacher in private, public, and charter schools in Northern California since 2009. Prior to that, I earned a B.A. in communication with a minor in environmental science and spent some time working in the public relations industry.

When I'm not teaching, I split my free time among many different interests! I like to run, hike, travel, take nature photos, play guitar, read, write, and practice yoga.
