In this 6-week course, 3rd-6th graders will continue to build their vocabulary by unlocking the mysteries of Greek and Latin roots. They will learn a new set of roots and build on the roots learned in the first class.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Four Math-Related Roots
Students will be given a list of vocabulary words. From each set of vocabulary words, they will find the root, its meaning, and origin. For each root learned, students will make a notecard will all of this information.
 Week 2

Three Math-Related Roots
Students will be given a list of vocabulary words. From each set of vocabulary words, they will find the root, its meaning, and origin. For each root learned, students will make a notecard will all of this information.
 Week 3

Two Roots
Students will be given a list of vocabulary words. From each set of vocabulary words, they will find the root, its meaning, and origin. For each root learned, students will make a notecard will all of this information.

Students will be given a list of vocabulary words. From each set of vocabulary words, they will find the root, its meaning, and origin. For each root learned, students will make a notecard will all of this information.

Students will increase their vocabulary and improve their spelling skills.
As a homeschooling mom, I have taught my own children Greek and Latin roots. This has prepared them well for the SAT, and has also helped them in their English classes. I also have a degree in elementary education.
Homework Offered
There will be some optional activities. For example, I will ask the students to be on the lookout for the roots we have studied in class. If they find one of the roots in a book they are reading, they can post it on the word wall on Nearpod to share with the other students.
