In this class, I will be teaching the first quarter of 3rd grade math. I will be using the common core standards. In this class students are encouraged to ask questions and discuss and explain problems. Students will get many opportunities to participate in this class. My goal is to help my students love math. Students will have different ways to show their work. They can send pictures, write in the chat, or post videos. Students can post videos in the classroom if they would like all students to see their video. They can send their video directly to me if they only want me to see the video or instead of making a video students can explain the steps to someone to show understanding. Week 1: In the first week of class, students will get a review video on 4 digit addition and subtract, making groups to complete multiplication problems and writing a multiplication equation by looking at equal groups. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of the lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week, students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 2: In the 2nd week of class, students will practice fluency and arrays. Students will get problems during the video and will pause the video to solve and then resume the video. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of the lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week, students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 3: In the third week of class, students will get a lesson on the commutative property and skipping counting arrays to solve. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of each mini lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week, students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 4: In the 4th week of class, students will get a lesson on using groups and arrays to solve division equations. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of each mini lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week, students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 5: In the 5th week of class, students will get a lesson on writing multiplication, division, and addition equations to go with groups and arrays. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of each mini lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 6: In the 6th week of class, students will get mini lesson on using skip counting to solve multiplication tables 2, 5, 10, and 11s students will also learn about the 0 and 1 multiplication rules. Students will receive problems to solve at the end of each mini lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week, students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 7: In the 7th week of class, students will get a lesson on using groups and arrays to solve division equations. Students will receive a problem to solve at the end of each mini lesson. Students will record themselves solving and explain how to solve the equations. At the end of the week students will receive an assessment to complete. Students will take a picture and send the picture of the completed assessment to me to be reviewed. Week 8: In the last week of class, students will receive a lesson on using the distributive property to solve 12's tables. Students will get a problem at the end of the lesson to record themselves solving and post in the classroom. Students will receive an assessment that will cover everything taught in this class. Students will take a picture to send to me for review.

3.OA.6 Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.
3.OA.7 Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
3.OA.8 Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding. (This standard is limited to problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers; students should know how to perform operations in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order, i.e., Order of Operations.)
