Students will learn the proper formatting and rules of screenwriting.  They will also learn some of the tricks of creating characters that audiences will relate to in an engaging film. 

I have been a senior level English and Writer's Craft teacher for more than 20 years, but beyond that I am a writer of prose and screenplays myself.  I've written a Young Adult novel and numerous screenplays. I've worked on-set of film and television productions, and I've been a script reader for production companies.

Additional writing outside of class time is encouraged, but not mandatory. Learners will be assigned work to do after each of the classes to practice the skills we look at in our classes, and so that they can have work to share with the class on our last class together.

Students are informally assessed by their screenplay formatting, discussions in class, and through constructive feedback on their writing skills.
