Students will complete reading comprehension and comparative analysis of various tales through a Venn Diagram.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Human Tales/Hero Tales
Students will write a hero tale based on the Hero’s Journey Story Map.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Modern Day Tales
Students will research and present via PowerPoint or Prezi a modern day fable.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Myths and Origin stories
Students will research local, national, global myths and summarize, review and compare myths across cultures.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Fairytales
Students will read and analyze favorite fairytales for theme and content.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Fractured Fairy Tales Mad Libs Cloze Activity
Students will complete a mad libs/cloze activity on a favorite fairy tale. Read and write a fractured fairy tale story.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
FishTales and Parables
Students will read and analyze fishtales and parables for the meaning and messages of the story.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Create Your Own Story
Students will complete a create your own story (Write/record student story based on form of fairytale, myth, tall tale or trickster tale and share with the class for critique)

Lesson 9
Wrap Up
Students will share their stories in the forum and critique each other's stories.
Students will be able to read and analyze fairytales for meaning.
I am an English certified teacher. I love teaching fables and fairy tales and other wonderful literature. I am offering this class as a flex class as I think it will provide a great opportunity to students to move at their own pace. There are so many wonderful fables and stories out there just waiting to be discovered.
