このクラスで学べること
We are going to explore art supplies by learning about what they can do and what artists use them. We will do an activity together that can be as much about experimentation as it is about making a cool piece of art. We will cover -- the elements of art and principles of design, composition, color theory, and more -- watermedia (markers, ink, watercolor paints) -- drawing media (pencils, charcoal, pen) -- collage materials -- mixed media Each session will start with a material that will serve as inspiration for our art work. We will look at artists who use the material in their work, and talk about what we could do with the same material. Then we will finish with an activity that plays with that material. Students will be able to request materials for future classes, however, we want to make sure that we start with the basics. For instance, oil painting would be fun, but we want to start with the basics first before moving onto more advanced materials. Subject for each class: Session 1: Getting to know each other, and creating with pencil and paper. Session 2: Pushing Graphite (pencil) and drawing with erasers Session 3: Charcoal, shading, and form Session 4: Color! Explore Color with Markers and water! Session 5: More Color! Layering colors with other media (colored pencil, crayon) Session 6: Collage with old paintings, magazines, and more Session 7: Project with favorite media (Studio sharing and connection) Session 8: Open Studio and Big Questions The last 2 classes are open to suggestions from the students. At this point we expect that the students would have connected to each other, and wish to go back to their favorite images or ideas from prior to the class. How would they use their new materials to make a new version of their favorite things?

Our goal with the Tiny School of Art & Design is to build a creative community by introducing art and design activities in everyday and at special events.
MY STORY
I'm Heidi Jeub, a visual artist who owns and operates the Tiny School of Art & Design! Having traveled throughout the state of Minnesota, teaching art to rural & marginalized communities, I often dreamt of bringing the studio (not just supplies and a project) to those I teach. Here’s the opportunity to make a dream come true...
The Tiny School of Art & Design brings equipment and artistry to almost any setting, from private parties to public events. The host location or organization can work directly with the artist to create a mission-focused activity that also aligns with various aspects of art and design.
