このクラスで学べること

Growing up, I was around a lot of birds, however I really did not know anything about them or appreciate them. Now I am an avid bird watcher and photographer. I want to share my love of birds with children. We will talk about the birds, where they live, what they eat, and many other interesting facts. Each week we will focus on a different bird/ bird family. The students will also learn how to use birding identification guides and clues on how to identify birds. This class will focus on birds found in South America.

Each week we will look at pictures of the bird that we are studying. We will also talk about birds that are very similar, and what makes this bird unique and how to identify it from other similar birds. Students will be encouraged to share any information that they know about the bird and if they have any pictures, they can share them. The habitat will be discussed, and what they eat. We will learn what sounds the bird makes. Students can ask questions about the birds that they are curious about. This class would be appropriate for 5-8 year olds that are interested in birds, it is not a Share/social class. Most of the time is spent looking at the resources, and is teacher directed. We do a bird games at the end of each class to help learn the bird by visual identification.

This link shows the sections and which bird they are on. There are different tabs for the various birding classes.
