**PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A ONE-WEEK FLEX COURSE. THE CLASSROOM WILL BE OPEN FOR TWO WEEKS FOR COMPLETING ASSIGNMENTS. THERE ARE NO LIVE MEETINGS. **

OVERVIEW🐦:
In this five-day FLEX course, your learner will gain confidence to write a complete five-paragraph essay using Teacher Stephanie's step-by-step instructions and complete essay model. Learners will be guided through the process and instructed to write their own essay about a person or pet. This topic is selected so that students can easily tap into their own experiences as a source of information. With this information,  they will be able to more easily focus on employing all the basic parts of a essay in their writing. Each session includes a lecture, writing samples, on-video practice exercises, and step-by-step instructions. 

WHAT IS A COMPLETE ESSAY?✏️
A complete essay includes an introductory paragraph with a hook and a thesis; three body paragraphs with topic sentences, support sentences, and closing sentences; and a concluding paragraph with a thesis restatement, topic restatements, and a clincher. Transitions are included throughout. 

INTERACTION😀 😃 😄:
Learners will interact with the teacher through check ins, asking questions, playing a Kahoot game to review essay structure, completing assignments, and receiving feedback on writing assignments. They also have the opportunity to interact with other learners by brainstorming together and sharing topic ideas. The teacher will check in with each student regularly via the Outschool messaging system. I often respond with personalized video responses. Learners are encouraged to ask questions through the messaging system.

CLASS STRUCTURE👩‍🏫👩‍💻:
Each day (x5) learners will be emailed an instructional video with a lecture, examples, samples, and step-by-step instructions for writing each part of the essay. After viewing the instruction video, students will complete the coursework and are welcome to send it in for feedback. Students will need to print the resource packet provided in the welcome message in order to complete the assignments.

PREREQUISITE🧠:
Students should be able to write complete sentences and have an understanding of paragraph writing.
