This semester class is aimed at children who are beginning their journey in written communication. It is designed to take the fear out of writing by breaking it into small, manageable elements. By approaching these elements in fun but effective ways, the student will grow in confidence and come to see that writing is desirable instead of a chore. Students will learn the natural order to building an essay. This will include coming to understand the relationship enjoyed by words, sentences, and paragraphs. They will become comfortably familiar with essay-writing vocabulary such as: thesis, introduction, body, conclusion. They will learn to start seeing the essay hidden in every part of their daily experience.
I had the joyous experience of studying reading and writing at University which culminated in a Masters Degree in English. I am also the father of eight homeschooled children (now grown). Making learning fun and effective is my advocation. I am a published author of four young adult novels and write large numbers of book reviews and essays. I find excitement and satisfaction introducing children to writing.
