このクラスで学べること
🌟 This is a lively movement class which helps children develop their spatial awareness, visual tracking and left-right coordination in a fun way. The learners will cross the midline, follow the rhythmic movement of balls, and engage their entire body from the tips of their fingers to their toes. The activities have a wide range of benefits for children of all ages and abilities. 🤹♀️ Following a warm-up game, each class will recite a short poem and conduct movements in unison. The children will then practice specific coordination exercises using racquetballs and beanbags. They will hold poses which require balance and focus as a way to practice stillness. The class will close with a moment of self-reflection in a sharing circle. 🔴 MATERIALS: Learners need to have two racquetballs and two scarves to fully benefit from this class. Bean bags are also helpful (See supply list below). During their first session, they could use two soft plastic bags (approx. 20x20 cm) instead of scarves. The learner should also have a suitable space to perform exercises standing before the camera. The floor should allow the racquetball to bounce evenly with its distinctive sound. The beanbags should fit into each child’s hand comfortably. Without the adequate materials, the child could get frustrated. 🖐 To join this class, students should be able to throw and catch a beanbag, and bounce and catch a racquetball in one hand. 👁️ EXTRA: I will provide videos of exercises which will allow a parent or sibling to work with the student after class. ⏰ SCHEDULING: This is an “ongoing” class. Students can sign up anytime and participate week by week. If you don’t see a suitable time, please message me. Click "Follow" on my teacher profile to find out new time slots as they become available. 👓 AGE: If your learner is not in the age range mentioned, please tell me about her background and why the class might be a good fit.

It is important to have an open space where children are not at risk of hitting their head when bending down to pick up a ball which is rolling away from them. Using proper footwear would prevent children from hitting their toes against furniture in the room.

In Waldorf schools, mornings generally start with movement and coordination exercises to liven up the children, and help them feel present in mind and body. As a certified Waldorf teacher, I try to include movement in all of my classes because I have seen firsthand how it benefits children. I also know from personal experience that fun activities such as juggling, poi spinning and hula-hooping ameliorate one’s focus and mood.
