In this multi-day class, learners will be introduced to the relationship between plate tectonics and volcanoes. Class will begin by exploring Earth's four main layers, the role of Earth's crust and mantle in plate tectonics, and how all of this relates to volcanoes. By becoming aware of the relationship between plate tectonics and volcanism, learners will gain a greater understanding of how volcanoes form, where they occur, and how they occur in recognizable patterns on Earth's surface near...
Learners will gain a greater understanding of the relationship between plate tectonics and volcanoes. Learners will recognize volcanoes occur in patterns and bands on Earth's surface that are often along the boundaries between continents and oceans. Maps will help learners locate different features associated with different types of plate boundaries, such as volcanoes and mid-ocean ridges.
My Bachelor's of Science degree in Geology, my professional experience working as a Geologist, and my 8 years of teaching science qualify me to teach topics covered in this class.

During Week 4 of the class, students will be building and erupting their own volcanoes. Each learner will build their own volcano. Learners will need to have their materials ready prior to our Week 4 class meeting so they are prepared to build their volcano when class starts.授業以外に週あたり 0 - 1 時間の学習が期待されます

For this class we will be using Pear Deck. Pear Deck is an add-on tool that helps to make presentations more engaging and interactive. Students will need to access the class Pear Deck presentation by visiting www.JoinPD.com. From there, students will be asked to log in using a "join code" provided by me. This ensures a safe and secure online learning environment because only students with the specific "join code" will be able to access the presentation.
