Sure, you've played wizards, elves, fighters, and dragonborn! How about something different? What about cowboys using high tech, lightning guns fighting robots? Play an adventure in an alternate history of the United States! It's been 11 years since America lost the Robot War and ceded everything west of the Mississippi to the automatons. Now a fresh young scientist with a government contract and a load of new experimental devices is outfitting a voluntary expeditionary force to cross the ol' Miss and head deep into No Man's Land. It has only been with the development of "Tesla Towers" that cause robots to shut down can hardy (or fool hardy) settlers try to reclaim the west. In this week long role playing game camp learners will play Western heroes outfitted with the latest technology to fight the robots roaming across the plains. Class one: The Rangers are given the task to travel from their base at Fort Ohm to pick up a captured robot in the town of Uncanny Valley. Can the Rangers navigate the dangers of the wired west? Class two: After fending off the roaming robots, the Rangers continue their journey, defending themselves from all the perils that the Uncanny Valley has to offer. Class three: The Rangers finally arrive in town, perhaps the worse for wear. They take custody of the captured Robot, Bot Masterson, and begin to transfer him back to Fort Ohm. However, once out of the influence of the Tesla Towers, Bot Masterson become more dangerous. Class four: The Rangers encounter a rust storm, one of the new perils of the new west. Do they take their chances with the storm, or do they ride through the protected (and very dangerous) El Diablo Canyon? Class five: Based on the Rangers' route, they must overcome the challenges that threaten them along the journey. Meanwhile also keeping the insidious robot Bot Masterson in custody. This class will use a set of role playing games rules similar to Dungeons & Dragons called Savage Worlds. Savage Worlds uses the same dice as D&D, but uses a different method to determine success. Previous experience with Dungeons & Dragons or other role playing games is not necessary! Everyone of any skill and experience level is welcome! Role playing games are excellent vehicles for both curriculum based and soft skills. Learners will have the chance to use the following skills in class: planning, leadership skills, organizational skills, project management, decision making, situation analysis, storytelling, writing, reading, and math among others. Learners will be given the option of several pre-generated characters to choose from before class starts.

Hi, I'm Ed!
I'm so happy to be teaching on Outschool!
I'm a professional puppeteer, a gamer, and a home school dad!
During my career as a puppeteer I've performed with the Muppets, the Jim Henson Company, and Sesame Street among others. I've been a puppeteer on feature films, tv shows, and videos throughout my 30+ year career. I have toured internationally with Walking with Dinosaurs-the Arena Spectacular for the past 11 years. Currently I own a company that tours throughout the Southeast.
As a home school dad I helped teach my son his entire school career.
I'm a huge fan of games, especially role-playing games! Playing a role playing game can improve skills like math, reading, comprehension, team work, and creative problem solving.
Students learn better when they are in an environment where they want to learn. Using puppetry and games, I've been able to educate students of all ages on a variety of topics. In fact, puppetry and games can be used to teach any subject under the sun!
