Class Overview: This  90 minute class offers a gateway to a world of limitless possibilities, where young adventurers can develop valuable skills, forge lasting friendships, and embark on unforgettable journeys. Dungeons and Dragons is a game experience that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Immersive Storytelling:
Dungeons and Dragons is renowned for its immersive storytelling, and the Enchanting Explorer class takes this to the next level. Young adventurers will not only participate in epic quests but also have the chance to shape the narrative through their decisions, making each adventure a unique and unforgettable experience.

Teamwork and Cooperation:
Collaboration is key in the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Enchanting Explorers will learn the importance of teamwork as they navigate dungeons, solve puzzles, and face formidable foes. This class encourages communication and cooperation, fostering valuable social skills in a fun and engaging way.

Character creation will be done on the first class. Players can customize their characters, choosing from a variety of races, classes, and backgrounds. This allows each young adventurer to express their individuality and tailor their character to fit their preferred playstyle.

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking:
Dungeons and Dragons is a game that challenges the mind. Enchanting Explorers will encounter puzzles, riddles, and strategic dilemmas that require creative problem-solving and critical thinking. This class nurtures the development of analytical skills in an exciting and interactive environment.

Class Progression:
There will be a total of 5 ongoing classes/sessions. Each on a different crucial gameplay element of D&D that can be played in any order. Content build each week, so please join us in a week 1- Fundamentals Session

📆 Week of March 4th-- Fundamentals
A class on the fundamentals of D&D, such as teamwork and cooperation, understanding the rules set by the DM and world, the flow of the game, dice rolls and ability checks, creating characters, and reading character sheets.
📆  Week of March 11th- - Combat
📆 Week of March 18th Puzzle Solving 
📆 Week of March 25th- NPC & World Interaction
📆 Week of April 1st- A final one-shot game  that is a culmination of the skills the players have learned in the previous 3 (combat, puzzle-solving, interaction) that will prepare them for joining a class that features a longer campaign over the course of 4-8 sessions with a consistent group, world, and custom characters.


Incorporating Educational Elements:

This class integrates educational elements into the gaming experience. Through gameplay, young adventurers will enhance their:

Math Skills: Calculating damage, tracking resources, and managing inventories.
Reading and Writing: Crafting character backstories, interacting with NPCs, and solving in-game puzzles.
Social Skills: Collaborating with fellow players, negotiating with non-player characters, and resolving conflicts within the party.


Quests by session: 
Part 1 - Adventurer’s Initiation:
New adventurers are introduced to D&D 5e and learn about the fundamental concepts, elements, and rules of the game! Learners will be introduced to what makes up a character, an explanation of skills, proficiencies, classes, races, and a variety of other features. Additionally, students will learn about critical mechanics, such as ‘checks’ that revolve around dice rolls, cooperation & teamwork, and outside-the-box problem solving.
 
Parts 2 – 4:
Groblar’s Arena – Battle for the Relics of Eternity
Lord Groblar, a powerful warlord renowned across the land for his excellence in all forms of battle, has invited adventurers from across the land to participate in his tournament of combat! Battle waves of increasingly difficult enemies as you fight for your chance to win one of the prized Relics of Eternity, learning the fundamentals of combat along the way. Do you have what it takes to step into Lord Groblar’s arena and compete for legendary power and fame?
 
Enigma’s Labyrinth – Trapped with No Hope
Your party awakens in a cold, dark, stone-brick room, dimly lit with a long-burning torch. In front of you are writings on the walls in some unknown language and a name - Enigma. Can your party work together to solve the puzzles set before you by Mastermind Enigma and escape from his prison?
 
City of Whispers – The Mystery of Alchemist Zozimos
Throughout the city, there have been whispers the Alchemist Zozimos, who never seems to age despite having been around since the city’s founding centuries ago. The king of the town has enlisted your party to survey the town, its inhabitants, Zozimos’s shop, and any other points of interest. Will you take the leap into the City of Whispers to discover Zozimos’s secrets?

--------------------About Lauren Smith-------------------------
Lauren Smith is a certified teacher in exceptional student education with a Masters in Instructional Design and specializations in reading, and English for speakers of other languages, as well as students with autism in grades K-12. She is also certified in education from birth through four years old and is a certified teacher of the gifted for grades K-12.  

Having had the privilege of working with students across various age groups and cultural backgrounds, Lauren has taught coding, reading, and mathematics to elementary, middle, and high school children from around the world. Her enthusiasm for both general and special education settings is palpable, and she currently teaches 5th grade at a public school in Hollywood, FL in the United States of America.

Beyond the classroom, Lauren is a mother of three, ages nine, twelve, and sixteen. Her personal experience as a parent, especially to a child with special needs, fuels her passion for inclusive education. Lauren's teaching philosophy centers around the belief in a growth mindset, asserting that, with the right tools, children can master any concept and achieve expertise from a young age.

In her coding classes, Lauren seamlessly integrates math and coding concepts, empowering students to create their own video games and animations through computer code while organically learning mathematical principles. Her joy lies in witnessing her students' faces light up as they discover the possibilities of their newfound knowledge.

As an avid reader herself, Lauren endeavors to instill a love for reading in her students and her own children. Her favorite children's books, ranging from "Wonder" by R. J. Palacio to the "Percy Jackson Series" by Rick Riordan, reflect her diverse literary tastes. Parents often seek her recommendations for captivating reads for children of all ages.

As a bilingual teacher fluent in Spanish, her native language, Lauren enjoys connecting with people from different corners of the globe and delights in practicing basic greetings in various languages. With a dream to travel the world with her family, Lauren Smith continues to inspire, nurture, and celebrate the joy of learning in every student she encounters.

Meet David Rice, a dynamic young coding teacher based in the sunny state of Florida in the United States of America. David holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and  is currently pursuing his Master's degree. Passionate about sharing his knowledge, he has dedicated his career to educating the next generation of tech enthusiasts.

With a flair for simplifying complex concepts, David has found his niche teaching coding to middle and high school students. His innovative and engaging teaching methods not only make coding accessible but also foster creativity and critical thinking in his students. Beyond the classroom, David serves as a teacher assistant  where he continues to inspire and support aspiring computer scientists. In the heart of the tech revolution, David is shaping the minds of tomorrow's innovators with enthusiasm and expertise.

Davy Smith is a dad of three, one boy and two girls who all love to code. He lives in sunny ☀️ Miami, FL with his family. Davy holds a degree in Networks Systems Technologies. He codes on Scratch, HTML, and Python. He has also worked in the broadcasting industry in post production for over 20 years. Mr. Smith is excited to be a part of this amazing team of teachers whose goal is to create a learning environment where kids feel comfortable with making mistakes as they learn. Mr. Smith’s goal is to teach children coding in a fun and laid back environment.

Alberto Rodriguez, our teen Spanish teacher, is a native of Venezuela. He has been living in the United States for over 30 years and worked in the public school system for over 15 years. He aims to teach teens words and phrases in Spanish that they can use in their every day lives. He also knows the importance of learning grammar rules when learning a new language, so he teaches the correct way to write and read Spanish in his classes. Sr. Rodriguez is retired and now lives with his wife in the beautiful and sunny State of Florida.
