I am an art teacher with 17 years experience teaching children in public schools, private schools, home school groups, Art League classes and one-on-one tutoring. 
All children are naturally creative, so as an art teacher I do not stop at simply being creative.  I will bring different artist techniques to the classroom and help "train your child's eye" or learn what to look for when creating.  For example, where to place the the dominant area in the picture, or how to move the viewers eye through the picture. As students are young, it is beneficial for them to copy or follow step-by-step with the teacher, but as they gain understanding and confidence, using different techniques, their artwork will be uniquely theirs and not a copy of anyone else's.  
One of the things I love about art is redeeming our mistakes.  Using what at first is an un-wanted mistake and using it as the foundation of something better.  
My family enjoys the outdoors. We live in the country and enjoy farm animals, gardening and simply being in nature. It is very likely plants, animals and outdoor life will make it's way into our classes.
