NOTE: Class must have a minimum of 3 enrolled. This class will continue through the end of May. It works well for a math curriculum for Kindergarten. It also works for a struggling first grader or advanced pre-schooler. Calling all dinosaur friends! Join me and bring your dinosaur friends for this ongoing year-long dinosaur-themed math class 2 times a week that will take you on an exciting dinosaur math adventure. In this exciting class, students will be taken to the Land of Dinosaurs each day to learn fun facts about dinosaurs from our dinosaur puppet, Digits. Many forms of learning strategies will be implemented to keep the interest and learning fun. I also use NearPod to review what has been taught. This allows the student to be interactive with the online activities that I have created. We will be going on a dinosaur adventure to learn numbers (standard and word forms), counting, colors (implemented into the activities), shapes, sizes, addition facts, subtraction facts, reading number sentences, greater than/less than, word problems, patterns, picture graphs, bar graphs, fractions, telling the time, and more. Class time will be packed with activities. Some examples of the teaching strategies used are singing songs, looking at dinosaur books, crafts, playing interactive games both online and physically, learning interesting facts about dinosaurs, dinosaur fossil digs, being a paleontologist as we measure dinosaur bones, and interacting with each other as we solve math problems. In each class, there will be visually appealing handouts, foldable activities, dinosaur online games, (created by me), math dinosaur crafts, use of manipulatives that can be found around the house, and just too much to mention it all here. You will have to enroll to see all the exciting activities we will be doing. We will be coloring, cutting, and solving our way through our dinosaur adventures. I will be using a colorful slide presentation to teach the objectives. Whiteboard use is encouraged during the lesson so they can write the answers and show them in class. This way, students will stay continually engaged. Each week we will focus on and review the math standards listed below. Students may join the class at any time since the concepts will be reviewed continuously. I will introduce a new topic on the first day and then review it on the second day. This allows them to get a better grasp of the math topic before moving on. With the class meeting 5 days a week, the students will have a good solid understanding of the objectives by the week's end. The objectives may change slightly so keep checking back. Hello! My name is Erinn Santore. I am the founder and teacher of Treasure Quest Learning Adventures. I am super excited about teaching your child the many exciting treasures I have learned about people, places, and things. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science Degree in Education with an emphasis in Children's Literacy. I have 13 years of experience in the mainstream classroom but have been working closely with children in various settings for 30 years. I have been teaching English to children in China for VIPKID and absolutely love it. I am married to a courageous firefighter and have two children that I homeschool. My daughter is 8 and my son is 10. I am a leader in a large local homeschool co-op. Traveling around the world is a hobby of mine. I enjoy meeting people and learning about new cultures. Teaching is my passion and I am energized by it. Teaching your child will be the energy highlight of my day. I believe children learn best while being fully engaged which happens when fun is involved. When I love what I am teaching, they will love what they are learning. If I am not learning, I am not having fun. I look forward to having your child in my classroom.
