In this 3-week class will dive deep into the letter S! We will do fun movement exercises to practice writing the letter S and to explore vocabulary that starts with the letter S. 

Each class begins with brain connectivity exercises that prepare the brain for learning. Students help lead these movement exercises to develop their leadership skills. The children then do vocabulary exercises based around the letter S to learn the sound in context. Within these movement exercises are many opportunities for creative choice-making and expression. Students are often asked to share their creative choices with the class. 

Body Brain Kids uses embodied learning to enhance learning with preschoolers. Attending one 30-minute session a week will strengthen a child's foundation for writing and math and develop their body awareness.

Students will leave the class with a familiarity of the letter S in the following ways:
- They can identify the letter S
- They can write the letter S
- They are aware of the sound of the letter S
- They can recall vocabulary that starts with the letter S

保護者へのお知らせ

It is best if students can work without shoes. Bare feet are best, and socks work well if on carpet. Socks on wood or tile floors can be slippery and dangerous. Please clear a small area where your child can comfortably be on the floor. Please have water available if the child needs some during our session.

Hi! My name is Jessica and I love teaching preschoolers how to read and write using movement! I use embodied learning in my classes, which means I use movement to teach conceptual ideas such as reading and writing. The body is a super power tool for learning! When children learn with their whole bodies, more of the brain is activated and this supports learning.

In addition to my innovative use of movement as a learning tool, I also enjoy developing children's imagination and creativity. Throughout each class, children are asked to make creative choices and share their imaginative ideas with the group. 

I developed my classes following my ten-year professional dance career. After working in California preschools through the Americore Jumpstart program, I was frustrated how learning mainly occurred while children were sitting still. I went on to develop the Dancing the Alphabet curriculum through classroom experience while teaching hundreds of students a week in Brooklyn preschools. During that time, I sculpted the curriculum to become the engaging, impactful and FUN set of exercises that it is today.
