Welcome to the Daily Read-Aloud Club, where young readers (ages 4-7) will explore a mix of classic stories and fun adventures every day! In this interactive class, students will enjoy reading well-known books and short stories aloud, taking turns to build fluency and confidence in their reading skills. Each session will feature a 20-minute story, followed by a brief discussion or activity to reinforce comprehension, vocabulary, and engagement with the text. Students will be encouraged to predict story outcomes, discuss characters, and practice pronunciation. The class is designed to nurture a love for reading while developing reading habits, and each child will get personalized support through real-time feedback. By the end of the course, children will have explored timeless tales, built their reading confidence, and developed a daily reading routine they can carry on outside of class.

What Will Be Taught?

In this Daily Read-Aloud Club, young learners will explore classic stories and engaging adventures through interactive read-aloud sessions. We’ll focus on developing essential reading skills like fluency, comprehension, vocabulary building, and pronunciation while fostering a love for reading. Children will engage with beloved books such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are, and other classic tales.

What Topics Will You Cover?

•	Classic Literature: Exposure to famous stories like The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Gingerbread Man, and The Three Little Pigs.
•	Modern and Popular Kindergarten Stories: Books like The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
•	Character Development: Understanding and discussing characters’ actions and emotions.
•	Plot Understanding: Helping students identify and recall story events and discuss the beginning, middle, and end.
•	Comprehension: Asking questions to check understanding and support critical thinking about the stories.
•	Vocabulary: Introducing new words through context and pictures and helping students use them in sentences.
•	Phonics & Pronunciation: Encouraging correct pronunciation through reading aloud and interactive discussions.

How is Your Class Structured?
Each session is 30 minutes long, structured as follows:
1.	Warm-Up (5 minutes): Quick check-in with students and an introduction to the day's book. This allows students to share what they know about the book or topic, helping them engage with the story before we begin reading.

2.	Reading (20 minutes): We will read the story together, taking turns reading aloud. Each student will have a chance to practice their reading in a supportive environment. The text will be displayed on the screen so students can follow along and see the words.

3.	Discussion/Activity (5 minutes): After the story, we’ll talk about the plot, characters, and lessons from the story. I may ask questions to encourage students to think about the themes and ask them to predict what happens next.

Fun activities like interactive drawing, simple games, or predictive questions will keep students engaged.

How Will You Teach?

I use a student-centered, interactive approach to teaching, where the children actively participate by reading aloud, discussing the book, and engaging in fun activities that reinforce what they’ve learned. I will use Zoom’s interactive features like screen sharing and annotation tools to display the book text and highlight key points in the story. I will offer real-time feedback, helping students with pronunciation and guiding them through the text to ensure they understand the story.

What's Your Teaching Style?

My teaching style is engaging, interactive, and supportive. I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, experimenting with language, and sharing their ideas. I incorporate story-based games, predictive questions, and visual aids to make learning enjoyable. The goal is to keep kids excited about reading while helping them build foundational literacy skills.

How Much Will Learners Get to Interact with You?
•	Reading Aloud: Students will take turns reading aloud from the story, improving fluency and pronunciation. I’ll provide feedback and encouragement as they go.
•	Discussion: We’ll engage in a discussion after the reading to help deepen comprehension. I’ll ask questions about the plot and characters and invite students to share their thoughts.
•	Activities: I’ll use interactive games and activities like predicting the story’s outcome and role-playing to keep students actively involved and reinforce learning.
•	Instant Feedback: Students will receive real-time feedback on their pronunciation and comprehension during the session.

With over a decade of experience as an ESL instructor and a critical reading and writing instructor and manager of a K-12 English Language Arts gifted education program, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to reading. I’ve worked with native and non-native English speakers across a wide range of subjects, from grammar, literature analysis, and creative writing to analytical writing, presentation designing, and legal writing. My goal is to help students build critical thinking and communication skills, develop self-confidence, and take ownership of their learning journey. I also speak Korean, having grown up in a multicultural home and often draw upon my own experiences to connect with ESL learners.
