We address the National Visual Art Standard 9: Apply criteria to evaluate artistic work.
Sketch is the art vocabulary term with space as the element of art, variety as the principal of design and destruction as the modern element of art.
This lesson plan embraces student voice and choice as we understand the art world (studio habit of mind).  Students will learn about art history and interact with other artists and a broader arts community. 
This lesson reinforces an enduring understanding; People evaluate art based on various criteria.
We explore an essential question; How does one determine criteria to evaluate a work of art?
This one-time class is part of a larger “Creativity” course with the goal to reconnect students with a fun learning experience that happens through play. 

I have 6 years and counting of being a public school art teacher.  My time teaching includes in person and online/virtual.  I am licensed in K-12 Visual Arts in both Minnesota and Michigan and have a Master’s of Education from the University of Minnesota.
