創作：章立ての本や物語の本を書く

I love helping kids write stories and chapter books. My class is a lot of fun, with a lot of multi-sensory prompts and laughter. Many of my students even publish their books and get the actual book in the mail. When they get their books, they often show them to the class. It is a huge joy sparkler!

The chapter book class is most effective for kids who love books and storytelling and are eager to write a book. 

In this class, I help them build their creative confidence and writing skills through their imaginations. They can write any kind of story - a roblox story, a fairy story, an adventure story, a horror story...whatever they love!

This is an ongoing class, which means kids can start it at any time. Kids are constantly starting and finishing books.

Your child will write their first chapter or story in their first class. Please make sure they brainstorm their story idea before the class. You'll get a direct message on Outschool in your inbox and their inbox with bonus videos and material. 

They should send me a direct message about their idea. 

Note that if your child is 11 and up, I have a novel-writing class for this age group. 

Here is how the class is designed:
15-20 Minutes: Brainstorm their chapters or stories and share a creativity object (they bring fun things to add to their stories or they make them up. 
10 Minutes: They write their chapter or story for 10 minutes. 
5-10 Minutes: I give them one more skill and we look at an example from a book they love. We will play a game here, connected to the topic like the popcorn game or spin the wheel, or we'll play a game at the end. 
10 Minutes: Write for 10 minutes.
5 Minutes: Game - Gimkit, Scattergories...

They can write outside of class but this isn't necessary. They can also just write in class. The most important thing is they find the writing fun and low pressure.

If they want to finish a book, they should write a bit outside of class so they finish a couple of pages or a chapter every week.

During the writing time, students can ask me individual questions in the chat or get help. I also give them fun ways to come up with ideas.

SOME CLASSES WILL FINISH THIS WEEK AND RESTART IN THE FALL! YOU CAN TRANSFER TO ANOTHER SECTION FOR THE SUMMER IF YOU'D LIKE TO CONTINUE WEEKLY CLASSES. I WILL ALSO HAVE CAMPS TO WRITE A LOT AND FINISH YOUR BOOK FAST.

Aug 11-17:  Conflict 

Aug 18-24: Specific nouns and verbs

Aug 25-31: Make your character funny or weird - capture their heart!


** Every class is unique, with different examples and different focuses even if it covers the same area of the writing craft because many kids stay in my classes for years and I want it to be new for them.**

**For every class, bring an object  or think up an object to give as a "creativity gift" or to use in your own story. (It can also be something you imagine.) This adds a lot of fun.
