Are you a budding author? Are you keen to write your very own chapter book? Do you dream of publishing your own book? In this seven week class, you will follow the steps from brainstorming to publishing to write your very own chapter book. Week 1-February 20, 2024-Finding your BIG Idea! Week 2-February 27, 2024-Chapter 1-Create your Character Week 3-March 5, 2024-Chapter 2-Build Your Story with Rising Action Week 4-March 12, 2024-Chapter 3-Personal Voice and Character Development Week 5-March 19, 2024-Chapter 4-Cliffhangers Week 6-March 26, 2024-Chapter 5-Climax, Falling Action and Conclusion Week 7-April 3, 2024-Book Jackets and Publishing Class Experience: -Introduction -Mini Lesson -Independent Writing Time-includes teacher support, feedback, etc. -Closing Mini lessons will be delivered through class handouts, direct teaching and slides. Feedback is an important aspect of this class. It is an essential part of the writing process and while I will give learners feedback, learners will be expected to give and receive feedback from others in the class. I will use the breakout room feature to provide learners opportunities for feedback and sharing. While there will be no homework assigned for this class, learners should complete each week's chapter prior to the next class.

I have an Advanced Certificate in Literacy Instruction with a strong background and passion for teaching students to read, write, listen and speak. I am also an artist. I have a strong foundation in Art Education and love to teach lessons that mesh the Fundamentals of Art with the pure joy of creating something.
