このクラスで学べること

Students will learn how to:
Create a digital magazine using Google Slides
Incorporate multimedia elements
Collaborate with small groups
Publish final products on Issuu.com
I'm a lifelong student who has accumulated a few degrees including a Master's in English Education. I have taught a broad range of courses (English Language Arts, Essay Writing, Negotiations, Conflict Resolution, English as a Second Language, and more). A major part of my teaching philosophy is have students creating content rather than students passively consuming information. Student work always impresses me, and it seems such a shame to let all that creativity and hard work end up in a folder, hidden after a course ends. Instead, I now focus on ways to have students publish their work to allow others the benefit of seeing and learning from student perspectives. A second key element of my teaching philosophy is to enable students with the skills they need to continue publishing their work long after they finish working with me. I know the world needs to hear from students, so my job is to make sure our learners feel confident continuing their projects without me.
By using Google Slides, OERs, and the free Issue.com version, there are no additional materials or costs for students.
このクラスでは、Outschool内のクラスルームに加えて、以下を使用します。
The Open Educational Resource (OER) movement allows students to create dynamic, professional products by using free images, content, and media. To give back to the movement, the final group project, a magazine sample, will be shared as an OER for non-commercial purposes for other educators and learners. The group magazine will include spaces for student names and pictures. Students are welcome to use appropriate pseudonyms and avatars instead if desired. Students’ individual projects are not required, but encouraged, to be shared as OERs.

The group final project will be published on Issue.com under my personal account. Students who wish to publish their individual projects on Issue.com may create their own accounts, give me permission to publish on my account, or sustain from sharing their individual projects for the time being.
