このクラスで学べること
Each week a new animal will be featured. We will discuss the animal's common and scientific names. We will see pictures of what scientists think the animals looked and acted like. We will theorize about how scientists know think these things, and evaluate the evidence. We will talk about what features made these specific animals extraordinary. We will also discuss how these adaptations may have evolved and whether they were more behavioral or structural in nature. Students will learn about the animal's habitat and will use this information to analyze why these adaptations were beneficial. Students will also analyze this information by sharing what they know about other animals (both extant and extinct) with the same or similar adaptations. The first four weeks we will cover: Week 1 The Woolly Mammoth Week 2 Parasaurolophus Week 3 Velociraptors Week 4 Apatosaurus. Each week after that will cover a new extinct animal based on student requests.
学習到達目標
Students will learn to note structural adaptations in animals. They will learn the names for the scientific classification of animals. They will be able to tell why certain adaptations were beneficial to the animals.

I love exploring! Whether it's new languages, cultures, myths, or scientific concepts, learning new things is one of my passions. Sharing that excitement with students is even better! I believe that we learn best when we are fascinated, engaged, and challenged. I also believe that there is no substitute for experience. To that end, I enjoy finding ways to incorporate important learning goals with fun games and themes. I hope to immerse my students in the worlds they love to learn the concepts that will help them succeed.
I have a master's degree in education and a bachelor's degree in Political Science, a CELTA for teaching ESL from International House in Barcelona Spain, and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I have worked in a variety of educational settings since 1998 when I did my first practical experience at Wisconsin State School for the Deaf. I have worked with students at risk and with mainstream students. I have worked with students from 2 to 62 years of age. Currently I teach ESL online as well as teaching with Outschool.
