Students do not need any experience or knowledge prior to this class. My teaching style for this course will be teaching basic phrases and vocabulary through images and gestures/ motions. Then students will get a chance to speak and respond to questions in Spanish so we can build friendships in the class through the language learned. Students will learn through repetition and connecting with me and other students. There will be slides and flashcards to show the images of different vocabulary words. We will begin each class with an icebreaker, the first classes starting in English and then slowly transitioning to starting each class with icebreakers in Spanish (with help and translation when needed) Next the new material will be taught by me speaking and the students repeating. Then I will give each student a chance to put the new material in to practice by asking me or another student a question in Spanish and giving them a chance to respond. Every other week there will be a short lecture about Hispanic culture and/or a motivational session about why the students are learning Spanish. 

Here is a breakdown/ summary of each week of this class:

​​Week one class 1 and 2: Introductory phrases- 
Hello, goodbye, What is your name, My name is, How are you? I am good, I like, food vocabulary


Week two class 3 and 4: 
Practice responding questions from previous week, I have, Do you have? I want, Do you want? Pet vocabulary


Week three class 5 and 6:
Practice conversations from previous week, Clothing vocabulary, colors and numbers vocabulary, I see, do you see?  Adjectives match in number and gender


Week four class 7 and 8:
Practice conversations from previous weeks, Pronouns, I like, You like, He likes, We like, they like, I have, they have, etc. 


Week five class 9 and 10:
Practice conversations from previous weeks, ser  family vocabulary, adjectives (Nice, smart, funny)


Week six class 11 and 12: 
Practice from previous weeks, body parts vocabulary, estar, he/she is____


Week seven class 13 and 14: 
Places- to go, he goes, we go, ect. Places vocabulary- house, park, store, 

Week eight class 15& 16: 
Practice conversations from previous weeks, course review and mini class fiesta (party) presentation of awards for students incorporating Spanish words and sentences to remain immersed in the language even during the class party. 


Class will only go one when the minimum of 4 learners have been enrolled. We will postpone the start date until the minimum amount of learners have been met.
