週1時間. I will be uploading enrichment activities learners can do independently each week to ensure I know the student is learning. If a learner is taking this class for a grade or credit, they will need to do the enrichments for assessment.

I will be uploading two online assessments for learners to complete as well as options for weekly enrichments to complete outside of class that I will grade and provide feedback on. These enrichment activities are optional. If you would like a formal grade or assessment at the conclusion of the course if the enrichments are completed, please let me know, and I will be happy to do that for you!

Has your teen ever wondered about the practicality of math in their future? 

Consumer Math: Practical Math Needed For Life! Semester 2 is here to show them the real-world applications of math they will encounter in their adult lives. This course is designed to make math relatable, engaging, and directly applicable to everyday scenarios. From understanding insurance to planning a budget-friendly trip, I am here to guide your teen through these essential life skills!

Course Format:
This particular course meets twice per week for 6 weeks.  However, I do also offer a 12-week course as well as a self-paced option. Questions about the formats? Just ask, and I'll guide you through!

Empowering Teens:
🌍 Real-World Applications: This course brings math to life with practical scenarios, helping teens see the value in learning these vital skills.
🔢 Essential Skills: Teens will enhance their basic math skills, including practical applications in real-world situations.
📚 Literacy and Critical Thinking: We go beyond numbers to develop reading and analytical skills through engaging math problems.

Course Breakdown:
*Each week includes an enrichment activity related to the lesson, with personalized 
feedback provided. A formal grade report is available upon request at the end of the course.

Week 1: Understanding utility bills/Insurance (costs, how it works, etc.)
Week 2: Continue insurance and start the buying a car mini-project
Week 3: Navigating food shopping on a budget/Investment basics and growth tracking
Week 4: Crash course on the stock market/Mastering installment buying
Week 5: Budgeting for a trip/Filing taxes simplified
Week 6: Comprehensive review and assessment/The Game of Life Project – testing financial skills and budgeting for the real world

There is a third, shorter course that follows this one titled: Teen’s Guide to Personal Finance, which digs deeper into topics like apartment budgeting, applying and understanding loans, credit scores, and more!

Learners should come with their guided notes posted in the classroom, a writing utensil, and a calculator.  Enrichment activities will be posted in the classroom after each class is finished.
