Semester 2 is here to show them the real-world applications of math they will encounter in their adult lives. This course is designed to make math relatable, engaging, and directly applicable to everyday scenarios. From understanding insurance to planning a budget-friendly trip, I am here to guide your teen through these essential life skills! Course Format: This particular course meets twice per week for 6 weeks. However, I do also offer a 12-week course as well as a self-paced option. Questions about the formats? Just ask, and I'll guide you through! Empowering Teens: 🌍 Real-World Applications: This course brings math to life with practical scenarios, helping teens see the value in learning these vital skills. 🔢 Essential Skills: Teens will enhance their basic math skills, including practical applications in real-world situations. 📚 Literacy and Critical Thinking: We go beyond numbers to develop reading and analytical skills through engaging math problems. Course Breakdown: *Each week includes an enrichment activity related to the lesson, with personalized feedback provided. A formal grade report is available upon request at the end of the course. Week 1: Understanding utility bills/Insurance (costs, how it works, etc.) Week 2: Continue insurance and start the buying a car mini-project Week 3: Navigating food shopping on a budget/Investment basics and growth tracking Week 4: Crash course on the stock market/Mastering installment buying Week 5: Budgeting for a trip/Filing taxes simplified Week 6: Comprehensive review and assessment/The Game of Life Project – testing financial skills and budgeting for the real world What Teens Will Gain: 💪 Confidence in managing real-life financial scenarios. 🧠 Enhanced Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills in practical contexts. 🌟 Independence and Preparedness for future financial responsibilities.
