This class is critical for all learners because it help students spell commonly misused homophones correctly.  In this safari animal themed class, we will learn many of the most common homophone pairs that are often misspelled and misused in writing.  This skill will be taught through interactive activities, slides, games, songs, practice, and visuals.  Each session will focus on about ten words.  Students will learn tips and tricks for remembering the difference in the words, they will make a connection to a visual, practice choosing the correct word in sentences, and write proper sentences using the homophones.

Day #1 - This session will focus on there/their/they're, hear/here, no/know, and where/wear.  We will also talk about were/we're, even though they aren't truly homophones, because these words tend to be confusing in relation to "where" by most students.  Students will have interactive activities to practice using and spelling these words correctly.  Other homophones will also be learned after seeing a video about them.

Day #2 - This session will focus on to/too/two, one/won, hole/whole, and see/sea.  Students will have a visual to help differentiate the words, practice using the correct word in sentences, and practice writing sentences using these words.  There will be additional homophones learned while watching a fun video.

Day #3 - This session will focus on your/you're, made/maid, and break/brake.  Students will have a visual to help differentiate the words, practice using the correct word in sentences, and practice writing sentences using these words.  Afterwards, we will play a game to apply our knowledge of homophone that we learned throughout the lessons.  Students will also learn several more homophones from a quick read aloud story.

Students need to be able to read these words and have some understanding of their spelling.  This class will focus on using the correct spelling to correlate with its meaning when used in text.
