Color is a great addition to works of art, but it can be difficult to manage if you don't understand it completely. This five-day camp will teach artists all about what colors are scientifically and how to make them our allies in art. Students will understand the science of color: what colors are, values of colors, color hues (names), warm colors vs. cool colors, how to make neutral colors (i.e. grays and browns), simultaneous contrast, and how to make colors work for them in their art. Students will create a practical visual aid that they can use when creating and perfecting their art in the future.
I received my AA in studio art in 2016, and I have been teaching art since 2020, when I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled due to the pandemic. I really enjoyed the experience and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with other artists. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!
