This class consists of an interactive lecture on the basics of acids and bases, an instructor directed color changing lab experiment, and an optional quiz. Students will learn the basics of acids and bases which include: -The pH Scale -Litmus paper test -Cabbage juice indicator -Vocabulary words -Fun facts I love to use images, hands-on experience, quick checks, and video clips to bring the science to life to make it engaging, educational, and fun. Students will leave with a lasting memory of just how cool science can be.

This is a science lab experiment and lab safety should be followed. Parents should help throughout the entire process (before, during, and after) to make sure the student does not get injured. It is recommended that you use safety google and gloves.
受講に必要なもの
Materials Needed: -One red cabbage (it looks purple) -Pot to boil cabbage in -Baking soda -Water -Vinegar (clear is recommended) -At least 3 clear cups (additional clear cups if you are doing the optional items) Optional items for the lab for additional testing: -Milk -Juice -Soda -Window cleaner -Soap dissolved in water Before the class students will need to work with their parents to gather the materials needed, and prepare the cabbage juice for class. How to prep cabbage juice before class: Have a parent help you with this whole process for safety. Cut up the red cabbage (it looks purple) into small pieces. Place it in a pot of boiling water so that all the pieces are under water. Boil for 15 minutes or until the purple dye has colored the water. Strain out the water into a bowl and let it cool, store the cabbage juice water until class in a closed container. You can eat or discard the cabbage pieces.
