In this ongoing Christmas art club, students will learn to draw a variety of holiday themed subjects using colored pencil and pencil (polar bear and Christmas tree, gnome Christmas tree, Santa's elf and presents, and Santa Claus). Please note that since this is an ongoing course, students can enroll or withdraw at any time. Polar Bear and Christmas Tree 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a polar bear (full body) and Christmas tree. 2. Students will learn techniques for blending, applying, and layering colored pencil. 3. Students will learn techniques to create shadows for snow and white fur, using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn techniques for burnishing colored pencil to make it look smooth. 5. Students will learn techniques to draw snow falling, using colored pencil. 6. Students will learn a few facts about polar bears. Gnome Christmas Tree 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a stacked gnome Christmas tree. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn shading techniques for creating a balanced composition, using positive and negative space. 4. Students will learn techniques to add interest in their art with different sizes and shapes of gnomes to create a Christmas tree. 5. Students will learn techniques for drawing glowing Christmas lights, using colored pencil. Santa's Elf and Presents 1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a gesture drawing of Santa's elf sitting on a stack of presents. 2. Students will learn techniques to create depth in their drawings, using colored pencil. 3. Students will learn techniques to draw a bow and Christmas presents, using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn a few facts about the history of Santa's elves. Santa Claus with Toy Bag and List (Full Body) 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of Santa Claus (full body), using pencil. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques to create white hair texture, using pencil and an eraser. 4. Students will learn techniques to create highlights on Santa's suit, using pencil and an eraser. 5. Students will learn a few facts about the history of Santa Claus.

***I will be using Prismacolor colored pencils, but students can use what they have. ***Students may use oil to blend their colored pencil drawings if they desire. If they choose this, they will need to bring q-tips. Polar Bear and Christmas Tree -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Pencil Sharpener -Colored Pencils: red, green, brown, gray, blue, white, black Gnome Christmas Tree -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Pencil Sharpener -Colored Pencils: peach, brown, red, green, gray, yellow, black, white, gold (for star, or students can use yellow) Santa's Elf and Presents -Paper -Everyday pencil -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Pencil Sharpener -Colored Pencils: red, green, peach, brown, gray, pink, gold, white, black Santa Claus with Toy Bag and List -Paper -Everyday pencil and/or drawing pencils -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Pencil Sharpener -Blending tools (EX: blending stumps, q-tips, cotton balls, tissue, fingers, etc.)
