このクラスで学べること
I am a certified teacher and have been teaching this for years. I enjoy showing students that Science is fun and hands-on. This class will have the students discover and learn about Matter and Chemical Reactions. We will also be doing a few hands-on experiments in this class. After fully covering forms and states of matter, as well as the chemical and physical changes of matter, we will dive into a few actual chemical reactions. The students will be conducting 2 experiments with me to demonstrate chemical reactions and all the supplies is listed below. This takes up a large portion of the class, so please make sure you have the materials. :) This class will be full of fun and interaction! One experiment will be turning pennies green due to the chemical reaction that takes place. We will do the experiment together but they may not notice the chemical change until the next day or a few days later. One experiment will be creating elephant toothpaste. This will show how chemicals and matter can react to each other in different ways to create a new substance. I will explain how certain chemicals can react positively and others react negatively depending on their properties. Supplies Needed Experiment 1 (Pennies) Penny Paper Towel Glass or plastic plate or bowl Experiment 2 (Elephant Toothpaste) EMPTY water or soda bottle (cut top off) - 16oz Bottle is Recommended An extra cup Large bowl or tray (deeper is better to catch the experiment) Spoon to stir Measuring cups and spoons Hydrogen Peroxide Dry Yeast (can be found online or at the store) THIS IS NEEDED Dish soap of any kind Warm water Food color (OPTIONAL - any color and you can use two) Please have all the correct materials to ensure your experiments work. White vinegar is preferred over apple cider. Also, the yeast is essential or the experiment will not work.
学習到達目標
They will leave the class with a full understanding of Matter, the states of Matter, chemical and physical changes of Matter, and how chemical reactions happen and work.

There is a video I show at the end that has chemical reactions and experiments NOT to be tried at home unless done with a parent and the proper equipment. This is for them to see some crazy cool reactions. Please be advised and let your student know to not try these at home, as I will be doing the same.

I have taught this topic many times to my charter students and they loved it! I love teaching this topic because these experiments are easy, safe, and hands-on, but they teach students about Matter and the importance of it. I enjoy teaching this and have the qualifications to do so.
