このクラスで学べること
Because this class is learner directed, the topics covered will be determined by the instructor and student input at the time of the class. All manner of card magic will be topics for learning, discussing, and performing. Self-working card tricks, tricks using easy sleight of hand, and tricks using special cards and packets are all fair game. We will also talk about presentation skills, from creating mystery to telling a story. Students will get to present their own card tricks, ask questions about how certain tricks work, and discuss these things with other students. This is not a club for total beginners. At a minimum, It is required the students be able to comfortably manage and control a card deck. The skills of overhand shuffling, riffle shuffling and cutting the cards are definitely required. Interaction between students and myself and other students will be common, and this will be done in an orderly, polite and sharing manner. If requested by a student, other students might give suggestions for improving the presentation. Students will also be able to show tricks they are working on and get input from other students, as well as help others improve.
学習到達目標
Students will improve their presentation skills. They will learn to work with others and share ideas to create mutually beneficial outcomes. Because this class will be on-going, students will learn a variety of card magic tricks and skills.
Young wizards will learn card management, basic and simple sleight of hand, tricks related to those skills and other tricks in general.
Magic can give a young magician the bonus skills of storytelling, self-confidence, practice, understanding people, persistence, showmanship, acting, humor, empathic thinking, and analysis. Many magicians today say magic was what helped them overcome shyness.

受講に必要なもの
A complete deck of cards in good condition is required. If the student has smaller hands, you might want to consider using "Bridge" size cards rather than the more common "Poker" size. I recommend Bicycle brand.

教師の専門知識と資格
The magic classes I teach are for close-up magic with cards, coins, everyday objects and some special magic objects, too. I also include the very special and important "inner secrets" of magic. Misdirection, creating mystery and surprise, using special unseen and unknown set-ups and "moves", and sometimes simple sleight of hand are taught.
I've been a professional magician since 1972, performing for private parties, corporations, festivals and special events. I performed my own parlor magic show at a famous mansion for two years.
As a magic teacher, I've taught summer camps for the University of Minnesota's summer kids camps for more than ten years. I've also taught kids for the Twin Cities Magic Academy (an affiliate of Discovery Magic, a national magic business), for two Minneapolis Park programs, and taught private lessons.
My classes are about making magic amazing, making presenting magic about more than just fooling people. When spectators ask my students, "How did you do that!?", they really mean, "How in the world could you possibly have done that? That can't happen!" They say "Wow!" before they ask how.
Within the learning and performing of magic lies opportunities for growth in developing speaking skills, self-confidence, perseverance, politeness, reading for learning and a bit of theater.
My mantra for teaching and performing is "Magic is Fun for Everyone".
