In this class students will be studying numbers up to 20. Students will identify, read, write, and create numbers up to 20 using a small candy (the teacher will be using M&Ms). We will begin by counting up to 20. Next, we will count our candies up to 20. Then, we will count using ten frames up to 20. (This will prepare them for beginning addition and subtraction.) After visually laying out and counting candy, we will write the numbers. The end of class we will count all the way to 20 and celebrate by eating our candy!

As an elementary school teacher, I have taught reading, writing, math, science, social studies, art and music to young children for 5 years, and even before that on a nonprofessional basis. Outside of teaching I have been a counselor for multiple summer camps and even worked at a development center.
Just because I am in the teaching profession, our classes will not be lacking in fun! I absolutely believe that learning is all about interacting with students and giving them a safe space to try out their new skills! Children should be allowed to try, make mistakes, and try again!
A few of my favorite things are my dog, Barry, the color purple, cooking, Minecraft, and making music. I enjoy many different things and always look for the fun in life!
