Let's explore our solar system while building a scientific model of the planets! Each session, we will highlight features of planets such as their atmosphere, surface, inner layers, position in the Solar System, and history of human exploration. Learners are encouraged to use their observational skills to inform their builds, such as when considering colors and relative sizes of each planet. Session 1: The Earth and Moon - We will begin on our home planet and discuss the Earth/Moon system....
Learners will compare and contrast the planets by composition, size, and distance from the Sun. Learners will create a scientific model using hands on materials. Learners will identify the sources of our knowledge about space, such as satellite imagery and rover missions.
Learners will need building materials or art supplies to complete their models each week. The instructor will suggest possible color combinations and building strategies, but will also provide alternatives if a particular color isn't available. Some general color guidelines are listed below. Earth: Blue and green Moon: Light gray, dark gray, white Mercury: Shades of gray Venus: Tan, brown, white, light orange or yellow Mars: Red, brown, maroon, pink Jupiter: Tan, brown, white, light orange, yellow, red Saturn: Tan, brown, white, light orange, yellow, gray Uranus: Shades of blue Neptune: Shades of blue
学習者は、Outschoolが提供する基本ツール以外のアプリやウェブサイトを使用する必要はありません。
We will be using Nasa's Eyes on the Solar System via screen share to look at up to date satellite imagery and planetary positions. We may also use the planetarium software Stellarium to visualize where the planets appear in the night sky.
